Weather 'halted' England's momentum - Morgan

Wednesday, June 29 2016 by SNTV
  • England captain Eoin Morgan said on Tuesday (28th June) that the poor weather has had an impact on his side's momentum in the rain-affected one-day series with Sri Lanka - ahead of the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka at The Oval on Wednesday (29th June).

"It's going to be certainly one of the challenges over the next couple of games that we do play. There is a hit of rain around again tomorrow so staying in the present for us is as important as anything. With a lot of (bad) weather being around that's always a huge challenge not for it to become a distraction and to switch on when needs be. So we're well aware of the challenges that lie ahead tomorrow but firmly focused on what we want to do."

"It has and it hasn't. We want to play as much cricket as we can. I suppose it's halted a little bit of momentum that we've had so tomorrow is about regaining that a little bit, not forgetting the hard work you've got to put in to put yourself in a position to win a game. You never earn the right officially to win the game until the game is over so remembering the hard graft you put in to get to that position I think is very important."

"Yeah, not to get too far ahead of ourselves but again putting in a good solid performance is as important as anything for us tomorrow."
