  • India captain MS Dhoni on Sunday (28th August) commented on the conditions that forced play to be abandoned during the short two-match T20 series against the West Indies that gave the Caribbeans a 1-0 series win.

"Well, what the umpires told us was that they haven't got adequate equipment over here and the condition out here was quite bad, so because of this conditions wouldn't improve and we weren't able to play a game. That's the call that the match officials have to make and as far as I have played you know close to ten years of international cricket and frankly I have played under worst of conditions. If I remember the 2011, the whole ODI series that we played in England we were literally playing you know under the rain...so I feel the conditions definitely....ultimately the umpires decide, so they decide you play, we play...and if they say it was unfit for play, it was unfit for play."

"So overall it seemed as if a good product. The timing suits the broadcasters, and at the same time it is good for the fans and we get some cricket. So overall it is a win-win scenario but yes it will further cramp out schedule when it comes to the Indian cricket team. But I don't see a lot many players complaining about that because that is one thing we are quite used to."
