Roy: England get better with every game

Thursday, March 31 2016 by SNTV
  • Man of the match Jason Roy of England and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson speak after England's seven-wicket win in the semifinal of the ICC WT20 in New Delhi on Wednesday (30th March).

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jason Roy, England (on England gaining more support after the win)
"I guess we are that sort of the side, we had a lot of negative feedback from a few people and to be in a world cup final now is kind of ...hopefully got a few more people on our side. However, there has been a huge amount of support this whole tournament from back home and all over the world, so thanks to all those people".

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jason Roy, England (about playing in the final)
"Ya, we are getting better with every game but like we said before this game today is just another game of cricket. It just happens to be at Eden Gardens, a world cup final in front of 100,000 people, so it's going to be an incredible experience. But we are going to go out there and play our natural way and the brand of cricket we have been playing for the last year or so".

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jason Roy, England (on whether he would prefer playing India or West Indies in the final)
"Prefer to face any side to be honest...West Indies or India..good luck to both of them. Its going to be a great experience whoever we come against. But whoever it is we are going to come all guns blazing.."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Kane Williamson, Captain, New Zealand (on what advise he would give England for playing in Kolkata)
"Its a very different wicket, certainly slower, but i think it is important that when whoever gets to Kolkata they read the wicket as best as they can, don't be too conservative about how they want to play their cricket, be prepared to do it differently because the cricket you see out there might be tough to implement on a Kolkata wicket. But saying that been very good ones there in the past, so we are not quite sure".
