Hashim Amla was named South Africa's new test cricket captain on Tuesday (3rd June), overtaking apparent front-runner AB de Villiers and succeeding Graeme Smith.

"It goes without saying that it's an honour and a privilege to be captaining the Test team. I have to pay tribute to Graeme (smith) and his leadership over the ten years that I have been involved (in the team) There is certainly a lot of value that he has added, a lot of value that we will take with us carrying on from here on. Throughout the years I have concentrated mainly on my batting. I have tried to become the best batsman possible and I hopefully I can still get better.
