Kieran Govers' extra-time goal earned Australia a 2-1 win over the Netherlands in Melbourne on Sunday, and their fifth consecutive Champions Trophy.

    Script:

That's the prize they were playing for as Australia met the Netherlands in the Champions Trophy final.

With 21 medals in 13 appearances, it was the Europeans that forged ahead through Sander Baart's 18th minute goal.

Another penalty corner - and the Aussies were level in the 31st minute via Russell Ford.

Paul Gaudion's men had the chance to take the lead at the end of the half but Jamie Dwyer missed a penalty.

Tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation time, Kieran Govers fired in the winning goal, four minutes and 38 seconds into extra time.

A fifth consecutive medal gold goes some way to making up for Australia's disappointment at the London Olympics, where they had to settle for bronze.

An all-Asian battle for third place ...

A penalty corner and VR Raghunath gave India the lead over Pakistan in the 7th minute.

Shafqat Rasool made it 2-1 in the second half - after Muhammad Rizwan Sr had equalised for Pakistan.

3-2 the final score - earning Pakistan their first medal at a Champions Trophy since 2004.
