The likes of Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson and Indian icon Sachin Tendulkar were turning their arm over in the nets at the Wanderers Cricket Ground in Johannesburg on Wednesday, ahead of the eagerly-awaited upcoming T20 Champions League tournament.

In addition, Mumbai Indians coach Robin Singh and bowling coach Shaun Pollock were also in town to cast their eye over practice.

Although the tournament begins on Tuesday with the start of the six-team qualifying stage, the Indians are one of eight sides to have automatically earned a place in the group stage.

So, the defending champions will have to wait until Sunday to begin their campaign - taking on South African side the Highveld Lions at New Wanderers Stadium in Group B.

Following the West Indies' success in the Twenty20 World Cup on Sunday, Pollock will be hoping that Indians players Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Smith will be full of confidence and can lead
Mumbai to more Champions League success.

They will also be hoping that their two Sri Lankan players - Lasith Malinga and Thisara Perera - will be suffering no ill-effects from the defeat as Mumbai look to retain the trophy they won in 2011.
