The Indian cricket team arrived in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Wednesday (18th July) for a three-week tour where they will play five one-day internationals and one twenty20 match. The tour marks the beginning of a hectic season for India where they will host New Zealand, England and Pakistan.

The Indian cricket team, led by captain MS Dhoni, arrived in Sri Lanka to begin a three-week tour of the island nation on Wednesday (18th July).

India have not played any cricket since the end of the Indian Premier League, the domestic Twenty20 tournament.

Their short tour to Sri Lanka was scheduled to get the players acclimatised to the Sri Lankan pitches and conditions, which may be useful when the team returns to play the ICC Twenty20 World Cup in September.

India are hoping to get back to winning ways in all formats of the game after they suffered humiliating defeats in England and Australia last season.

India and Sri Lanka have played each other almost every year in the last five years and players are more than familiar with their opponents.

The Indian team arrived in Sri Lanka's capital Colombo after enjoying a rare break in their schedule.

The first one-day international between the teams will be played on Saturday (21st July) in Hambantota.
