Yi Jianlian said on Sunday (28th August) he wanted to make a breakthrough with the Los Angeles Lakers as the Chinese forward returned to the NBA for the first time since 2012.

"I played in the NBA for five years before returning to CBA for another four years. In ten years, I competed in two Olympic Games and in several Asian Championships. I think I have improved a lot both in terms of the mental strength and my skills.

"The same player may have different views during the different phases of his career. For me, I have changed a lot mentally because I have experienced so many more matches. I think returning to the NBA is going to be a new challenge for me. I hope I can work hard in order to make the breakthrough."
