Jordan: "We could have played better"

Saturday, August 13 2016 by SNTV
  • The USA men's basketball team trained and talked on Thursday (11th August) after being tested by the Australian team in a tight 98-88 victory on Wednesday

SOUNDBITE (English) DeAndre Jordan, USA men's basketball team centre: (On the 98-88 win against Australia)

"I mean obviously we could have played better, but they could have played better too. By the end of the day we got a mark on the left side of the column, and that is all that we are worried about. We are worried about getting better every day and that's all. I don't care how much I am going to win by. You know, if we win a gold medal and we win by 30 or if we win by two, we still win a gold medal, it doesn't matter."

SOUNDBITE (English) DeAndre Jordan, USA men's basketball team centre: (On DeMarcus Cousins)

"I think he has got in tough situations. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time, DeMarcus is a big target. He is a hell of a talent, and teams are definitely going to get him out early, which is a smart strategy for them. We have to make sure we put him in position to protect him and we'll be alright. That's why we have 12 guys in the team."

SOUNDBITE (English) Kevin Durant, USA men's basketball team forward: (On referees in Rio)

"It's physical here, but they are calling the touch fouls, that's kind of weird actually. You can bang around, and they'll let you bang as much...I can't even explain it. Whereas in NBA, they (referees) are trying to control it so that things won't escalate to anything bigger. Here they really don't care about escalating. They always think they can keep control with a quick call. They still let you bang on, it's really weird."

SOUNDBITE (English) Carmelo Anthony, USA men's basketball team forward:(On becoming the all-time leader for points scored with the national team at the Olympics)

"I wasn't even paying attention at that point, the game was coming so fast, You know I was so locked into what was going on, on the situation, on the game, that it was kind of hard for me to think about that. It's one of the top moments of my career."
