  • The Brooklyn Nets held a press conference on Wednesday, 20, to introduce all of their summer additions - led by new starting point guard Jeremy Lin.

SOUNDBITE (English): Jeremy Lin, Brooklyn Nets Guard:

"I felt like, you know when you look at a program obviously I want to win - I'm 27 years old and so I feel like coming into this position I know that at least (coach Kenny Atkinson) is gonna do everything he can to grow and to make this team what it needs to be and then I got to meet (general manager) Sean (Marks) and just talking to a lot of people around here and seeing, there's a different vibe, different environment that they've been talking about and I just felt like that was something I want to be a part of so it's a good opportunity for me to kind of take that next step as a player as well."

SOUNDBITE (English): Jeremy Lin, Brooklyn Nets Guard:

"I look back on (Linsanity) to draw certain lessons. I'm big on kind of learning from my mistakes and one of the biggest mistakes I made from New York was just not soaking everything in and enjoying it. You know I was so focused on the next thing, the next goal, the next game, the next season, the next whatever and I was never really was able to just pause and enjoy that moment, and I think for me now, even this, you know like a press conference or something, you know I don't know how many more years I'm going to be able to play, and something small like this that maybe I just would've brushed over or kind of breezed through in the past, now I'm trying to just slow down a little bit."

SOUNDBITE (English): Jeremy Lin, Brooklyn Nets Guard:

"Yeah, that's a great question. It came, everything happened overnight, right? So when first started, I am not going to lie, it was cool and then all of a sudden it became a burden because I didn't really know what I had gotten myself into. I didn't know how big things had become. And one, two, three, four years removed, I've, every year I embrace it more, every year I am more appreciative, every year I love it more and that's kind of where I'm at right now. I'm in a much, much, much different place mentally as a person than I was when I was when I was with the Knicks. And so when you talk about that platform (to speak to the community), I embrace it. And I am not just saying Asians. You know, if you look at what is going on right now in the world, you look at a lot of violence that we have in terms of the justice system and all of these different things, I mean, that is real life, you know? That's so much bigger than basketball. And I have a voice because of basketball to be able to talk and influence and do things that are related to, you know, things that are affecting people's lives and health every day and that's a very unique situation. So I definitely embrace that."
