San Miguel Beermen defeat Indonesia Warriors for 1-0 lead in ASEAN Basketball League finals.

Ageless Asi Taulava received his ABL ASEAN MVP award before his San Miguel Beermen tipped off the 2013 ASEAN Basketball League finals, facing defending champions Indonesia Warriors on Friday night.

The 40-year-old veteran then went to work, scoring off the spinning finger roll to keep the Beermen within three points at 21-18.

But the Warriors, who beat the Beermen in the 2012 finals, kept ahead on a bomb from three-point marksman (2) Mario Wuysang to make it 32-26.

The game went into half time tied at 38-38, but then after the break the Beermen took the lead through Justin Williams.

In the fourth quarter, the other half of the San Miguel's Williams connection, Brian Williams, finished off Chris Banchero's miss to give the Beermen a 61-58 lead.

Later in the fourth, San Miguel stretched their advantage to eight points with a three-pointer by Val Acuna that makes it 64-56.

Then with time running down and the Beermen clinging to a three point lead, Taulava finished the game off with a clutch jumper with just 16-seconds left on the clock to win 75-70 and taking game one of the ASEAN Basketball League finals.
