Coaches reflect on Memphis victory

Sunday, May 05 2013 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Post-game reaction after the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Los Angeles Clippers 118-105 on Friday (3 May) to take the first-round series 4-2 and advance to their second Western Conference semi-finals in three seasons.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English): Lionel Hollins, Memphis Grizzlies Head Coach:
"We just want to continue to go in the playoffs. I want to give the Clippers their due. They fought, and tonight they came out and threw everything at us. They played small, they played smaller. They pressed, they zoned, they gave hard fouls, they really competed and we held our poise, held up mentally tough-wise and were able to get the win."

SOUNDBITE (English): Vinny Del Negro, Los Angeles Clippers Head Coach:
"First, give Memphis credit, we handled them the first couple games, and they came back home, and flipped it on us, and it was tied 2-2. We went back home with home court advantage, which we worked hard to get, obviously. But weren't able to capitalise in game five. We had our opportunities, but I think {Marc} Gasol and Zach {Randolph} obviously put a lot of pressure on us. We changed things up several times trying to throw them off balance with double teams from different areas. Other guys stepped up, made shots, especially today."
