    Sergio Rodriguez said on Monday (9th July) he and his Spanish basketball team "have confidence" that they can win gold at this summer's Olympic Games in London.

    The Spanish basketball team go into this summer's Olympics looking to go one better than the silver medal they won at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

    Spain warmed up for the London Games by welcoming the Olympic hosts Team GB for a friendly.

    The Spanish defeated Luol Deng and co. 78-74, and Sergio Rodriguez was quietly optimistic on winning Olympic gold.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Sergio Rodriguez, Spain Olympic basketball team:
    (How confident are you of success heading into the Olympics?)
    "Yeah I'm confident but we'll see. We have a long way ahead and we will try to keep being better and keep working hard."

    The Spanish team contains plenty of NBA experience - the Gasol brothers, along with Serge Ibaka, who helped Oklahoma City to the NBA Finals in June before they lost to the Miami Heat.

    Spain's first game in this years Olympics will be against China on July 29th.

    Their group also contains Australia, Brazil, Great Britain and Russia.
