Jeremy Lin out for 6 weeks with knee injury

Sunday, April 01 2012 by SNTV

  • Intro:

Jeremy Lin will have left knee surgery and will miss six weeks, likely ending his amazing breakthrough season.

The New York Knicks said on Saturday (31 March) their point guard had an MRI exam this week that revealed a small, chronic meniscus tear.

    Script:

He's been the story of the NBA season, but for overnight global sensation Jeremy Lin, a knee injury will temporarily curtail any more on court heroics for the New York Knicks.

SOUNDBITE (English) Jeremy Lin, New York Knicks guard

"...Me and the trainers and the medical staff did a lot of rehab, pretty much all day, on the plane, during the games every morning and night. We did everything we could. Today was the one week mark, and so this morning I got on the court to see how it feels, and that's why I haven't been able to talk about this injury up until now. Because the decision was made this morning. Can't really do much, can't really cut or jump, so it's pretty clear I won't be able to help the team unless I get this fixed right now..."

SOUNDBITE (English) Jeremy Lin, New York Knicks guard

"...You know its not like a career ending thing, or it is not something that will bother me. Once it's fixed, it's fixed, it's the most simple surgery you can have. I am more concerned about this season..."

For now at least, the Linsanity is over.
