Ryder Cup (1-3 October)
The Ryder Cup returns with Europe led by Colin Montgomerie and the Americans in the hands of Corey Pavin. Monty has become synonymous with the ancient golf tournament having played a crucial part in past victories. With the team in his hands and Europe back on home soil at Celtic Manor in Newport, Europe will be feeling confident they can reclaim the title. They will be feeling even more confident if Tiger Woods is still on leave.
The return/absence of Tiger is sure to dominate the golf headlines in 2010 and whatever he decides to do it's certain to have a big impact. If he stays away, the lure of golf to both sponsors and fans will be keenly felt. Should he return the interest and expectation will be palpable. Golf's never been so interesting.
