Le Clos and Hosszu return to the pool

Sunday, August 28 2016 by SNTV
  • As the 2016 FINA World Cup series in Chartres, France came to an end on Saturday (27th August), Rio medallists, Chad le Clos and Katinka Hosszu reflected on the difficulties of returning to the pool after the Olympic Games.

SOUNDBITE (English) Chad le Clos, South Africa:

"Physically it's very difficult, I've had a little bit of a break (after Rio 2016), I haven't swum much in the last two weeks, so I think just coming back, thank goodness it was short-course. I think if it was the long-course, I would never have come. But look, I'm happy to be back racing, I was a little bit disappointed in my Olympic Games (won silver in 200-metre freestyle), so in some way I wanted a bit of redemption and to get back on the winning trail. It's been a difficult year for me so I'm happy to be back."

    SOUNDBITE (English) Katinka Hosszu, Hungary:

"I think it was perfect that I didn't have much time to rest (after Rio), I knew I had to keep my shape after Rio to be able to race here. So it kind of forced me into keeping in shape and training, because I love racing."
