  • 30-year-old Chinese diver Wu Minxia talked to SNTV on Thursday (11th August) about her success in the women's three-metre synchronized springboard on Sunday (7th August), when she became the oldest female diver ever to win an Olympic gold medal.

SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Wu Minxia, three-metre synchronized springboard gold medallist:

"I didn't think too much about the result before the competition, but I did think about the chance of failure. Anything can happen and I just wanted to do my best during the competition and enjoy the process. As long as I still can stand on the three-metre springboard and give my best performance in the competition, I will be satisfied with myself as I have given my best."

SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Wu Minxia, three-metre synchronized springboard gold medallist:

"I really see this opportunity to compete as precious, as it has been a really tough process for me to continue my dream. I have experienced many setbacks and I had even thought about retirement, but I didn't give up because I have my dreams to accomplish. It is hard, because I would never have thought that I would face so many difficulties and challenges at the age of 30"

SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Wu Minxia, three-metre synchronized springboard gold medallist:

"When I walked up to the competition venue, I just thought of the competition as another practice session or test. I just want to do my best in every dive, just like doing a show in front of the audience."
