Confrontational Eddie Jones reacts to Ireland win

Monday, February 29 2016 by SNTV
  • Eddie Jones was in a fiery mood after his England side defeated Ireland 21-10 at Twickenham on Saturday (27th February) to maintain a winning start to its Six Nations campaign.

Q - You're not going to give us an opinion on it?

    "Why should I mate?"

Q - Because that's what press conferences are. We ask you for your opinion.

"Well, you can give your opinion mate. The referee has adjudicated on it. If I say something about the referee then the headline tomorrow is 'Jones complains about the referee'. So I'm not going to give an opinion mate."

"I definitely did mate. I'm not going to tell you mate. From this press conference onwards I'm putting a media ban on myself. Because I don't want to do any scaremongering, because I don't want to do anything that offends the media or people's parents. So from here until the Friday before the Wales game I'm not talking about the media."

Q - Is it just gamesmanship, the whole thing?

"Mate, if I don't say anything you come away from the press conferences and say it's boring. If I say anything then it's scaremongering. So the easiest thing is I don't come to press conferences."

"I don't regret anything mate. I don't regret anything. Why would I regret it."
