Wales not concerned by Biggar injury in Six Nations

Thursday, February 11 2016 by SNTV
  • Robin McBryde said on Wednesday that the Wales coaching team have complete faith in Rhys Priestland at fly-half - if Dan Biggar is ruled out with injury for this weekend's Six Nations Championship game against Scotland in Cardiff.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Robyn McBryde, Wales forward coach (asked what Biggar's injury means for the Wales team):

"Everyone is aware of the strengths that Dan possesses in regards to the kicking game in particular and the ability to challenge and compete as well as he does in the air. Rhys (Priestland) is a different player and has his own strengths. We saw that on Sunday. I think that we were able to play a little bit more and get it out wider in those channels. Rhys is very comfortable playing that type of game and he proved that he's as good as anybody in regards to kicking under pressure, kicking for points. It was quite an awkward wind to kick in Dublin on Sunday and Rhys coped with it, so it's not a huge concern."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ken Owens, Wales hooker (on Wales' recent good record over Scotland):

"I think there have been a lot of close games which have been nip and tuck and could have gone either way. Scotland are a very good side as we've seen. They were unlucky going out of the World Cup and obviously had a close game against England at the weekend. Their developing with a new coaching system and with (head coach) Vern Cotter coming on board. They're a very talented side and I'm sure they'll be coming down here with confidence, but we're confident in our ability and what we've got in the squad. We've got to put things right from last weekend and hopefully get a big result on Saturday."
