Ski cross wins for Fiva and Hoeie Gjefsen in Switzerland

    Marte Hoeie Gjefsen and Alex Fiva win in Arosa, Switzerland at the FIS World Cup Freestyle ski cross event on Friday.

    Script:

    It was back to usual for the World Cup Freestyle ski cross after the break for the Winter Olympics, with Arosa, Switzerland the setting for Friday's competition.

    Marte Hoeie Gjefsen of Norway won in the women's final beating Fanny Smith, Ophelie David and Anna Holmlund.

    Olympic champion Marielle Thompson failed to make the final, but maintains her overall lead.

    The Canadian has 525 points, 75 more than second placed Smith of Switzerland.

    While Katrin Mueller also of Switzerland has 408 points in third.

    In the men's final Alex Fiva put his bad Sochi experience behind him with a win in his native country.

    Second went to Tomas Kraus, followed by Didrik Druell and Christopher Delbosco who were third and fourth respectively.

    Fiva remains in fourth place in the current World Cup standings.

    Out in front with a slender lead is David Duncan of Canada with 361 points.

    Andreas Matt is second with 352 and Victor Oehling Norberg is third with 345.
