  • Team Europe successfully defend their Skiers Cup title in Grandvalira, Andorra.

The 2016 edition of the Skiers Cup took place in the Andorran resort of Grandvalira on Monday (1st February).

For the sixth time, nine of Europe's very best freeskiers competed against nine of the best from the Americas - with three professional judges scoring each skiers performance.

Team Europe led the cup 3-2 in the overall standings going into this meeting in the Pyrenees.

Team Americas was captained by USA freeski legend Sage Cattabriga-Alosa.

His team of nine riders included compatriots Seth Morrison and Nick McNut, with the latter producing several big airs.

The other riders from team Americas impressed in the backcountry slopestyle contest, with Parker White producing a very technical performance.

French freeskier and the 2014 Freeride World Tour Champion, Loic Collomb-Patton of France, was the European captain.

His team had a good balance of experienced extreme skiers - and ambitious young freestylers.

German Bene Mayr and Sam Anthamatten of Switzerland led the way with their skiing - but it was captain Collomb-Patton who made the real difference.

His performance impressed the judges as he steered Europe to a successful title defence and a fourth Skiers Cup victory.

The final result was 19 points to Team Europe and 13 to Team Americas.
