The Swiss Alps was the backdrop for the ladies' World Cup downhill skiing in Crans-Montana, Switzerland on Sunday.

Andrea Fischbacher of Austria claimed only the third World Cup win of her career with a time of 1:34.00 seconds, five years after her last victory in Bansko in Bulgaria.

The 29-year-old has been struggling with back and knees problems and is in eighth place in the overall World Cup Downhill leaderboard.

Fischbacher's Austrian team mate Anna Fenninger has never won a World Cup match but she was 0.15 seconds away from doing so today.

In the end, the 25-year-old had to settle for second in a time of 1 minute, 34.15 seconds.

Fenninger occupies second spot in the World Cup Downhill standings.

Finishing third was Slovenia's Tina Maze, with a time of 1 minute, 34.47 seconds, 0.47 seconds off the lead.

Despite achieving her 67th career World Cup podium, fourth position in the World Cup Downhill table doesn't give the part-time pop musician a lot to sing about.
