Martins Dukurs of Latvia won the World Cup Bobsleigh skeleton race in Germany on Friday, re-establishing himself as the Olympic favourite.

Dukurs finished in 1 minute, 54.93 seconds for his second victory in four races this season.

And his brother Tomass Dukurs finished in second place, whilst Russia's Alexander Tretiakov finished in 3rd. The three stood on the podium with the customary flowers and a rather large pint of lager.

The winners of the two-man race were Beat Hefti and Alex Baumann of Switzerland, who dominated the track in Germany. The pair finished 0.46 seconds ahead of the second-place Russian sled driven by Aleksandr Zubkov.

With their win in Germany, the Swiss pair solidified their gold medal credentials, but winning will not be easy in Sochi.

Americans Cory Butner and Charles Berkeley finished in third place to earn a bronze medal for the United States.
