CSKA win five goal thriller to advance in Spengler Cup

    CSKA Moscow came from behind to beat Vítkovice Steel 3-2 in overtime on Sunday and reach the semi-finals of the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland.

    Script:

    It was a tense first period between CSKA Moscow and Vitkovice Steel with both teams fighting for a place in the semi final of the Spengler Cup.

    The first period ended goalless with Vitkovice Steel netminder Filip Sindelar making a fine save.

    Another highlight from the first period was striker Oleg Saprykin making an unexpected trip off the ice.

    Two goals came in quick succession for Vitkovice Steel in the second period.

    First Richard Stehlik then Vladimir Svacina scored within a minute of each other for a 2-0 lead.

    But CSKA rallied, with 10 minutes left in the second period, Ruslan Zainullin pulled one back.

    The equaliser came just before the end of the second period.

    With 33 seconds left on the clock, Nickolai Prokhorkin hit a shot from long range to make it 2-2.

    The third period passed with no sight of a winner, but CSKA completed their comeback in overtime.

    Yakov Rylov hit the winner to put CSKA through to play hosts HC Davos in the semi-finals.
