One of the big dates in the FIS World Cup calendar - the St Moritz weekend.
Lindsey Vonn won the super-G here last year.
After a fifth place in the Canadian resort of Lake Louise last weekend, the American decided to stay on her side of the Atlantic to permit further recovery from a knee injury.
Following four victories in eight outings, Lara Gut had to be the pre-race favourite.
But there was to be no repeat of the performance by the Swiss at Lake Louise.
Victory there - seventh here.
It was Tina Weirather who took full advantage of the excellent conditions on Saturday.
Second in both races in Alberta, the lady from Liechtenstein recorded a mark of one minute, 17.38 seconds.
Anna Fenninger of Austria threatened Weirather's lead before settling for a time of one minute 17.77 seconds.
That looked like the top two spots settled - until a blazing late run from Kajsa Kling - in the number 44 bib - deposed Fenninger from second spot.
One minute 17.69 seconds for the Swede.
Massive disruption was caused late in the event by a bad fall involving Alexandra Coletti of Monaco.
Coletti was eventually airlifted off the piste.
Despite finishing seventh, Gut still retains her super-G lead.
