Defending Monsoon Cup champion Taylor Canfield of the US Virgin Islands finished top of the qualifying round on Thursday (28th November) with a 9-2 record, in the final regatta of the Alpari World Match Racing Tour.

The Canfield race was an important one but as always they're all important here and it looks like Taylor's won the round robin, we can't now do that, which gives him the pick from the quarter-finals onwards. So I guess it's a pity for us because our fate is not in our hands now. If Taylor picks, you know doesn't pick us, and wins his quarter-final and his semi-final then he'll be the World Champion. But you know you've still got to win the quarter and the semi and you know it's pretty tough out here, a lot of good competitors. So we're in the quarters, that's the first step and we'll keep fighting til the end."
