Haikou in China was the venue for the seventh stop of the Kiteboarding World Tour season.

The weather was extremely stormy due to a typhoon passing close by during the competition.

It was raining with wind gusts of up to 25 knots, which gave the riders ideal conditions for the second to last tour stop of the 2013 season.

Making the most of those conditions was Spain's Alex Pastor who climbed back in the double eliminations from fourth place to win the event, proving once again to be the best overall rider after being crowned world champion at the last event in Pingtan, China.

Second place went to to Pastor's compatriot - teenager Liam Whaley - who has proved to be the revelation of the season.

Whaley won the single elimination in this, the week he turned 17.

There was more success for Spain in the women's event where Gisela Pulido won her ninth world title by finishing top.
