  • Intro:

Reaction from some of the winners on the first day of the Swimming World Cup in Dubai on Thursday (17th October).

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) Katina Hosszu, Hungarian Swimmer.

"I kind of started off with the 8 X 3 not the way I wanted but I was really happy to come back winning the 200 meter freestyle right after so after that I went on a roll I guess I was able to be top three for the rest of the events. Yes."

SOUNDBITE (English) Chad Le Clos, South African Swimmer and Olympic Champion.

"It's been a great night for me. Three hundredths (of a second) away from the world record. I'm a little disappointed but you know I am really happy with the time. I'm pretty sure that's going to score the points for this one. Unless someone breaks the world record. So you know I am really happy with that. The 50 (metre) butterfly also a personal best time for me. It's agonising losing by 1/100 of a second but I have also won like that so I mustn't be too upset.

SOUNDBITE (English) Ranomi Kromowidjojo, Dutch Swimmer and Olympic Champion. (Q: Are you happy with your time?)

"It was okay. It was a good race. We were only like five weeks back in training after the summer so I feel okay."
