  • Intro:

Oracle Team USA won both races on Tuesday to send the America's Cup to a final deciding race against Emirates Team New Zealand on Wednesday.

    Script:

Oracle Team USA made it seven race wins in a row on Tuesday to draw level with Emirates Team New Zealand at 8-8.

Oracle seemed dead and buried when they trailed 8-1 in the America's Cup, but five race wins in a row saw them trail 8-6 going into Tuesday's action.

The defending America's Cup champions continued their impressive run of form by winning Race 17 and 18.

Oracle came through a wild start with two collisions to win Race 17 by 27 seconds.

Emirates Team New Zealand led by seven seconds as they rounded the second gate mark in Race 18, but they tacked too early heading into the first cross going upwind and slowed dramatically as the boats zigzagged toward the Golden Gate Bridge on the only windward leg on the course.

Oracle, with Jimmy Spithill as skipper, powered away after that and won by a comfortable 54 second margin.

It was Oracle's 10th race win overall, but they were docked two points earlier in the race for illegally modifying boats in warmup regattas and Dirk de Ridder, who trimmed the 131-foot wing sail, was disqualified.

It now means that the longest America's Cup in history will be decided on Wednesday, weather permitting, in San Francisco Bay with a a five-leg course framed by the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island.
