Places in the semi-finals of the South Korea Match Cup - the second stage of the Sailing World Match Racing Tour - were up for grabs on Saturday.

Controversy came in the all-New Zealand quarter-final between the boats of Adam Minoprio and Phil Robertson.

Minoprio won the first two matches in the best-of-five clash and in the third, Robertson received two penalties in quick succession.

Robertson fouled Minoprio a third time and received a black flag, signalling an instant disqualification.

That handed Minoprio a 3-0 victory - the same score that Ian Williams posted in his meeting with David Gilmour.

Elsewhere Taylor Canfield took a 2-0 lead in his quarter-final against Johnie Berntsson.

Sweden's Berntsson won the next match to stay in contention for a semi-final place, only for Canfield to take the fourth and complete a 3-1 victory.

The tightest contest was between Keith Swinton and Mathieu Richard, who came back from losing the first two matches to win by a score of 3-2.
