Sophie Rodriguez claims Snowboard World Cup in Sierra Nevada

    Sophie Rodriguez of France and Finnish rider Janne Korpi claimed victory in the women's and men's halfpipe event on the final stop of this season's FIS Snowboard World Cup in Sierra Nevada, Spain on Wednesday.

    Script:

    The final event of the 2013 Snowboard World Cup - in Sierra Nevada, Spain - saw the men and women competing for halfpipe glory on Wednesday.

    On the women's side, 25-year-old Sophie Rodriguez of France nailed the victory with a a flawless first run, earning 82.50 points and her second career victory - almost a decade after her first.

    China's Jiayu Liu finished second on a great day for the Chinese women, with Shuang Li and Zhifeng Sun taking fourth and fifth respectively.

    Meanwhile in the men's final, Finland's Janne Korpi won his tenth career World Cup victory - which also secured him the Freestyle Snowboard Overall World Cup title.

    Korpi was rewarded with a high score of 91 for a clean and brilliantly executed run, edging his two Japanese rivals - Ayumu Nedefuji and Shuhei Sato - into second and third.

    The Crystal Globe for the men's Halfpipe World Cup title went to Scott Lago - who again wasn't competing in Spain.
