The penultimate ski-cross of the season took place in Sweden on Sunday.

Fanny Smith of Switzerland recovered from a disappointing start to the day when she didn't record a place in race one - after failing to finish qualification - to line up in the final of race two.

She was alongside Swiss team-mate Katrin Mueller and the Canadian pair of Marielle Thompson and Georgia Simmerling.

Smith edged ahead at the first turn and held on from there. The Swiss skier now has a lead of 89 points over Ophelie David of France -at the top of the overall World Cup standings with one race and just 100 more points on offer.

In the men's race, Frenchman Jean Frederic Chapuis took an early lead in a highly competitive race, but was never able to relax . He took the win with Niederer coming second and Miaillier third.

However, with one more race remaining, it is Alex Fiva who tops the overall standings with an unassailable lead of 140 points.
