Czech skier Tomas Kraus was hospitalised on Sunday (10th March) after crashing during the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Norway.

    Script:

Tomas Kraus cracked his pelvis in two places on Sunday when he crashed midway through a ski cross run in Norway.

The Czech freestyle skier hit his head and back against the ground hard following a mistimed jump.

After the initial impact, Kraus slid along the snow before being halted by the safety netting along the side of the run.

Russian Sergey Mozhaev crashed into the Czech skier who was lying unconscious and unable to move out of the way.

Medical personnel attended to both men on the course for around ten minutes before Mozhaev stood up and walked away from the crash site.

The Russian was not seriously hurt.

Kraus was transported to a hospital where he was examined.

After staying the night, doctors revealed that Kraus had suffered a cracked pelvis but also said they expected him to make a full recovery in due course.

The season ended two weeks earlier than planned for the skier but he sounded remarkably upbeat when speaking on Monday (11th March) - Kraus said he planned to have a few weeks off to heal but that he would begin his preparation for next year's Olympics in May.
