Stamm faces Vendee Globe disqualification

  • Intro:

Bernard Stamm could be disqualified from the Vendee Globe for a second time.

    Script:

Jean Le Cam looked a bit dishevelled as he crossed Cape Horn.

The waters around that area are difficult to negotiate but the conditions are fairer once the yacht goes up the east side of South America.

Thoughts of the end can now be entertained despite the slow slog up the Atlantic Ocean.

Francois Gabart is still in the lead even the Macif skipper claims that he "can't believe it".

Armel Le Cleac'h is in second place - both are east of Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Gabart said that the conditions had been very difficult over the past few days.

But the Frenchman has managed to find some time to sleep as things had become calmer on Tuesday.

Bernard Stamm may not being resting easily as he has been threatened with disqualification.

The Swiss sailor announced that he plans to link up with Spanish counterpart Unai Bazurko to take on diesel fuel when he reaches Cape Horn on Wednesday or Thursday.

Stamm has already had one disqualification overturned after receiving help from a Russian scientific ship when trying to repair his boat near New Zealand.
