The Queen of Kitesuring is undoubtably 18-year-old Spanish rider, Gisela Pulido.

By the age of ten, the young phenomenon had won the first of her eight world championship titles.

A relatively new sport which emerged in the mid-1990s, Kitesurfing, or Kiteboarding is a combination of wakeboarding, windsurfing, paragliding and gymnastics.

The leading professional riders can reach speeds of up to 80 kilometres per hour and heights of 12 metres.

In 2010, Gisela performed one of her greatest ever tricks when she became the first person to kitesurf around the 12 Apostles - a collection of limestone stacks off the coast of the Australian state of Victoria. It was an experience she still treasures.

SOUNDBITE: (Spanish) (about kitesurfing at the 12 Apostles)

"It was an amazing experience. The sea was really rough. There were lots of waves. The wind was incredibly strong and the Apostles were huge. They were 30 metres high. It took a lot of adrenaline, but it was incredible."

SUPER CAPTION: Kitesurfing champion Gisela Pulido

Under the careful guidance of her father, Gisela has become the most dominant competitor on the Professional Kite Board Association's World Tour.

The sport will make its Olympic debut at the Rio Games in 2016, and if she continues her incredible progression, then you can expect Gisela Pulido to be the one to beat in Brazil.
