SOUNDBITE (German) David Storl, Shot put silver medallist

"At the beginning of the season I had a competition in Halle where I was 1 cm ahead of Tomasz (Majewski). It was actually good, it is not that disappointing to loose such a final, next time I might be lucky and be 3cm ahead myself".

SOUNDBITE (German) Karl Schulze, Quadruple sculls rower Olympic champion

"In that moment at the finish line you don't really feel the pain, due to so much adrenaline and the emotions you feel, but the day after you really feel that you had one of the toughest races, your legs are so stiff".

SOUNDBITE (German) Phillipp Wende, Quadruple sculls rower Olympic champion

"Doubt is the wrong word, we got set well by our coach for the race. We were aware of the tactics of the Croatian team, we wanted to start aggressively, then we saw that they set the pace at the 1000m mark, and we fought back and loosened ourselves with our sprint, away from the croatians and from the rest of the field. We broke their mindset, and put ourselves ahead. That was the key to success for us".
