New Zealand certainly had plenty to celebrate on Friday after winning two gold medals in rowing at Eton Dorney in the space of 45 minutes.

The first gold went to Hamish Bond and Eric Murray in the men's pairs, the duo producing a superb display to continue four years of domination of the discipline.

SOUNDBITE (English) Hamish Bond, Olympic rowing champion in men's pair:

"I think just an overriding sense of relief really, like you said, up until this point we had won everything in our event. So there was one glaring omission from our resume, and we're just really pleased to have gone out and filled that gap."

Not long after the Kiwi duo had picked up their medals New Zealand had another gold, Mahe Drysdale making up for his bronze in Beijing four years ago by winning the single sculls.

SOUNDBITE (English) Mahe Drysdale, Olympic rowing champion men's single sculls:

"I was immensely proud of what I achieved four years ago, but ultimately I hadn't achieved the goal that I wanted to. And this time things went exactly as planned, and it's just so nice to get that one out of the way. I suppose there was a lot of questions whether I was capable of doing it, and (I) really felt like I put that to bed today."

Friday's gold's takes new Zealand's medals haul up to four at Eton Dorney after a gold and a bronze in previous rowing events.
