    American swimming fans react to witnessing Michael Phelps secure his place in Olympic history with a record 19th medal at the London 2012 games on Tuesday.

    Script:

    American swimmer Michael Phelps became the most successful Olympian in history on Tuesday, with a gold and a silver medal that propelled him to a place in the sporting record books.

    Phelps shattered the record for most Olympic medals ever when he achieved silver in the 200-metre butterfly, and then a relay gold in the 4x200 freestyle event.

    With hundreds of American supporters on hand to witness history being made at the Aquatics Centre in the Olympic Park.
