SOUNDBITE: (English) Matt Grevers, 100 meter Backstroke gold medallist:
"I really have to focus on not going out too hard. When you have all that adrenaline and that excitement you just want to pump it from the first stroke on. My thought process was have a good start have some good dauphin kicks and just try to be smooth and strong. In the first 50 (metres) I really slowed down my kick as much as I could so I could push off the wall and have some great underwaters and I think I did that pretty well."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Nick Thoman, 100 metre Backstroke silver medallist:
"It's really cool you know. It is just a fantastic experience and to be able to share it with a friend team mate and competitor Matt is just is one of the best things. So I am really excited."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Matt Grevers, 100 metre Backstroke gold medallist:
"Nick is obviously really high ranked in his 100 meter backstroke and I think I was having a good meet so it was kind of open talk. We didn't feel like we were really jinxing anything. And David Marsh, his coach, right before winning was like one two and we knew it. It is not something you need to talk about often. We just shook each other's hand right before we went out and we knew it. We knew that's what the goal was and that's what we wanted to accomplish."
