British sailors bask in the sunshine in Weymouth on Friday ahead of the Olympics Games opening ceremony.

    Script:

British Sailing crews have dominated the medal table at the last three Olympics, winning over a quarter of all of the medals available, and often excelling in challenging conditions.

The venue for the sailing event this year is Weymouth and Portland.

Steven Park, Great Britain's Sailing Team Leader, believes that this is the strongest ever British Olympic sailing team.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Steven Park, Team GB Sailing Team Leader:

(Q: Britain has a fantastic recent Olympic tradition. How do you predict this current squad will fare?)

"Hopefully we will be able to continue the tradition of being the top Olympic sailing nation at this Olympics. But you have to recognise there's an incredibly competitive environment. He difference between winning a medal or not winning a medal, those margins between say first and fourth are incredibly small. There are a lot more nations making a lot more effort within the world of Olympic sailing so it's going to be more difficult than ever before. But we do have realistic medal opportunities in all ten of the events and we're going to be fighting out from the first day right to the very end. So we're very excited and we're looking forward to the competition."

Sailing will take place right through the Games, with a total of 10 gold medals up for grabs
