  • Intro:

Favourites Audi 1 had the better of the first two hours of 80th edition of the Le Mans 24 hours race, but face a challenge from Toyota who are looking to win the classic endurance race for the first time ever.

    Script:

A fly past signalled the start of the 80th edition of Le Mans 24 hours was imminent and once the flag signalled the off, polesitter Audi 1 hit the front.

The trio of Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer are looking to repeat last year's triumph when they covered 4838.3-kilometres in the allotted 24 hours.

With Lotterer at the wheel of Audi 1, the German was quick to put some distance between himself and Scottish driver Alain McNish in Audi 2.

After two hours of racing, McNish pitted and handed over to Danish eight times winner Tom Kristenson.

Meanwhile, Toyota showed that they were keen to mount a challenge - shadowing Audi's every move before Alexander Wurz handed over to Nicolas Lapierre.
