Two time World Champion Fernando Alonso's hoping for better fortunes at the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday, now that Ferrari's made the first of several changes to their car.

It's been five years since Alonso won the second of his back to back drivers titles, and he admits there's nothing quite like winning in front of a home crowd.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Fernando Alonso, Ferrari driver:

(Q: Is it a greater feeling winning a race in Spain -you home country - and in Italy, Ferrari's home, than on other circuits?)

"I think that the two wins, you have some emotions that you cannot feel in any other win. In Barcelona in 2006 it was probably the best memory that I have from a win, a victory. It was something special to feel all the people so happy and all the tension that you have during the weekend to perform well, when you do it and when you perform on Sunday and you win the race there is like a big adrenaline (rush) coming out and you enjoy it so much."

He currently lies fifth in the drivers standings after four races so far this season.

With both Red Bull drivers and the McLaren Mercedes pair leading him, Alonso will have to hope the changes to the car give him a boost against his rivals.

The Spanish Grand Prix in Montemelo takes place on Sunday.
