    Script:

The Volvo Ocean Race in-port competition at Itajai in Brazil hadn't even started but the boats were already battling with one another at the line.

PUMA, Abu Dhabi and Groupama were jostling for position - Abu Dhabi has the right of way as the leeward boat and PUMA were forced into an infringement, resulting in a penalty for the US team.

Camper managed to avoid the mess, and the New Zealanders took the lead.

But Telefonica were quick to move themselves ahead of Camper, building up a healthy lead before mistaking losing time by taking the wrong course route.

The whole fleet passed the Spanish team and Groupama led the way but Camper were not far behind.

Groupama fought off the advances of Camper and a later challenge from Puma.

Groupama crossed the line to take the win with Camper second, PUMA third, Abu Dhabi fourth and Telefonica last to finish.

Sunday saw the start of Leg 6 to Miami.

Puma lead the fleet away from Brazil after an initial surge by Telefonica, but with nearly 5000 kilometres to travel to Miami, the drama is sure to unfold.
