Rounds three and four of the World Touring Car Championship took place in Valencia on Sunday, with Yvan Muller looking to extend his lead at the top of the standings.

The reigning world champion started on pole for the first race of the day and never looked like relinquishing his lead as he made it three wins out of three this season.

With Muller cruising to victory it meant the focus switched on to the battle for second as Gabriele Tarquini in the Seat battled it out with Tom Coronel in the BMW.

Eventually 2009 champion Tarquini came home behind the Chevrolet of Muller, with Coronel third and Robert Huff fourth.

The second race of the day proved to be a much more exciting affair as Mulller failed to make his way through the pack, eventually having to settle for eighth.

That meant the rest of the drivers had a chance to record a first win of the season.

Chervolet's Alain Menu and Italian Stefano D'Aste engaged in some early duelling, touching on one occasion before Menu passed the BMW.

The Frenchman then found Tom Coronel in his way and once again made contact with his competitor as they battled to reach the chequered flag first.

Menu's chances of the win look to be gone when he drifted off the track but he managed to regain control to come home first, with Coronel second and D'Aste third.

After Sunday's races, Muller holds a 17-point lead at the top of the Drivers' Championship on 88 points, with Menu second on 61 points and Coronel three points further back in third.
