Sebastien Buemi tops testing times ahead of Formula E's second season

  • Sebastien Buemi topped the testing times in Donington ahead of Formula E's second season.

Just six weeks after the first season of Formula E finished in style in London, testing for season two took place at Donington Park in Derby.

Held on Monday and Tuesday the session was the first time that the Formula E teams have tested in public with the new technical modifications ahead of the 2015/2016 season.

The teams that have registered as manufacturers are allowed to produce their own electric motors, current inverters, gearboxes and rear suspension.

Sebastien Buemi of Renault.e.dams set the initial pace on day one, when testing was temporarily halted due to rain.

His quickest lap was just over second slower than his best time ever of 1:31.083, set during the penultimate day of pre-season testing last year.

He remained the fastest on day two, breaking the lap record at Donington with a time of 1:31.050

Buemi pleased with the changes that have been made to his car and expects it to improve over the season.

Sam Bird was second fastest for DS Virgin Racing, lapping just over four tenths slower than Buemi, while Daniel Abt was the third fastest.

Further testing will take place at Donington on Monday with the new season set to get underway in Paris on 17th October and include a total of 11 races.
