Laura Trott hints at competing in Tokyo 2020

  • Great Britain's most successful female Olympian Laura Trott, said she sees no reason why she won't appear at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games & that the four year event is always the sport's pinnacle.

"I obviously don't want to quit so I would like to say that I would be in Tokyo but for me, the events might change. I think that the team pursuit will probably still be in it but I think they might take the omnium out. For what event yet, I don't know (so) whether there will be more events that I can take part in I'm not sure. They tend to change, I mean they changed the omnium like the order and the way it works so I have no idea what Tokyo is going to look like."

"I mean for me, I guess it brought a different kind of pressure. I put a lot of pressure on myself anyway to win any race that I enter but I would say I was a lot more nervous (in Rio) because, like you say, I was a lot more known this time, but it's been a very different Games. But I think we've had just as much support here as we had back home. The crowd in the velodrome was phenomenal, most of them were British, which I just thought was incredible and it was a great atmosphere to be in once again."

"I think it's the fact that that is exactly what we work for. We work around a four-year cycle all of our training is based around going to the Olympics, so just because World's (World Championships) this year were at home, that didn't change anything. We were going to win gold here and I guess it kind of paid off."
