It's been a long time coming but finally, after nine months of competition, Team Alvimedica have won a leg of the Volvo Ocean Race.

The final stage of the race no less, from Lorient in France to Gothenburg in Sweden, this was the moment skipper Charlie Enright officially became the youngest ever winner of a leg in his competition's history...

SOUNDBITE (English): Charlie Enright (USA/ Team Alvimedica - skipper)

"Exceptionally proud, our team is what's kept us in this the whole time. We are one of the lesser experienced teams, so we had to be firing on all cylinders if we were to be a threat to the more experienced guys, and all of that's testament to the team. I cant say enough about Mark, we started this forever ago and his cool head has kept things together at times. Will was great to work with, Albie - what an amazing talent. Everybody knows their role, knows what to do. We've got a week left together it's crazy to think about.

As is the number of nautical miles racing this brings to an end, in all 38,739, some effort from those to reach the end.
