Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing are champions of the Volvo Ocean Race. This was the moment it was confirmed as they crossed the line in Gothenburg, they actually finished the final leg in fifth but such was their lead they just had to finish to be crowned overall winners. It is an incredible achievement for the United Arab Emirates, one of the nation's finest victories in any sport and what a result for skipper Ian Walker, who becomes the first Briton to win the round the world race.

Well, it feels good to lift the trophy up. Yeah, it has been strange because we sort of won it in Lorient. And we had to be careful because we still had this leg where it kind of didn't matter what happened, as long as we didn't get disqualified. So, it has been a very strange couple of weeks but it has actually given us a bit of time to think about it. And nothing prepared me for lifting up that trophy - and I sure that we are going to wave it in the air a few more times in the weeks to come."

And why not, few trophies take such effort to win, sailing 38,739 nautical miles in nine months, credit must go to all those who took part in sailing's toughest race.
