Volkswagen's Sebastien Ogier claimed victory in the Monte Carlo Rally, as he bids to secure the World Rally Championship drivers' title for a third year in succession.

Sebastien Ogier went into the final day of the Monte Carlo rally with a 43 second lead. He played it safe with his tyre choices, super soft and soft despite much of the snow being cleared from the course. The Frenchman though still managed to finish even further in front to win this Rally for the third time in his career.

His Volkswagen teammate Jari-Matti Latvala finished second, 58 seconds behind Ogier.

And a further 1 minute 14 further back was Norway's Andreas Mikkelson.

So a 1-2-3 for the German manufacturer, although it could've been very different has Sebastien Loeb not hit a rock in his Citroen. He'll be back to try again in Sweden next month.
