The rearranged men's ski jumping World Cup competition in Oberstdorf, Germany, got underway on Monday.

The opening Four Hills tour was postponed on Sunday after strong winds and heavy snowfall forced organizers to call off the first leg of the ski jump World Cup's traditional holiday-season tournament.

Peter Prevc may have won in qualifying but the 22-year-old Slovenian could only claim third place on the slopes of the Bavarian Alps.

Finishing runner-up was 23-year-old Austrian Michael Hayböck, who was awarded 285 points.

Compatriot Stefan Kraft scored 6.9 points better to seal victory. The 21-year-old soared 136.5 metres for the first-round lead and held his nerve with a jump of 129 in the second.

Kraft enjoys beach volleyball and he'll be hoping the sun shines on him again when the tournament continues in Bavaria next Thursday.
